Obituary for Andrew Hannwacker
Andrew Hannwacker, of Winter Springs, Florida, went home to Heaven on December 1st, 2019. He was preceded by his wife of 61 years, Yvonne.
He is survived by his five children, Michael, Kate, Debbie, Cindy, and Claudia, along with nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He will be dearly missed.
Andrew was born on September 17th, 1932, in Queens, New York. He bravely served in Korea as a member of the US Army during the Korean War. Andrew then served as one of New York’s Finest, where his regular beat was Times Square. After becoming a father, he transferred to the Fire Department of New York, Station 219 in Brooklyn.
The family later moved to Dublin, Ireland. Andrew enjoyed working in the antique store that he owned with his wife.
Andrew and his family later moved to Florida, where he worked as a Fire Inspector for the State of Florida until his retirement.
Andrew’s favorite pasttime was being with his family. He was a wonderful husband, father, and Papa. Andrew was the life of the party, always bringing laughter and joy to all those he met.
He spent the final years of his life as a resident at Lutheran Haven, where he was cared for and loved by the wonderful staff.
Andrew “Papa” Hannwacker made the world a better place, and left a great legacy for his family.
