Obituary for Anesha M. Collins
Anesha M. Collins, 35, of Winter Springs, Florida transitioned on Sunday, September 27, 2020. Born November 21, 1984 on Staten Island, New York to Thomas Collins, II and Paula Collins (née Brown), Anesha was always a curious and independent person. Wise beyond her years, loving, generous, kind, a truth-teller, funny, a debater; these are the descriptors she elicited from others.
Always active in her given community, Anesha participated in St. Peter’s Elementary School’s first cheerleading squad. She also chose to dance, do gymnastics, and play girls softball in West Shore’s Little League. Anesha was a precocious child who loved riding bikes, reading, and singing. Curious by nature, Anesha explored JROTC at Port Richmond High School, where she learned aspects of military science and sharpened her leadership skills. Commanding presence displayed, proudly adorned in her uniform, Anesha earned the nickname “GI Jane”. Demonstrating excellent leadership abilities, she was awarded the JROTC saber sword and the Military Order of the Purple Heart Award. Committed to her Junior Reserve experience she also participated in the Color Guard and attended the military ball. Raised to be self-reliant, even as a busy teen, Anesha worked at McDonald’s and Staples while attending High School before pursuing a career in the medical field.
Anesha began her medical career as a Patient Care Technician at Staten Island University Hospital. Upon relocating to Florida three months after her parents arrived there, Anesha worked as a Patient Care Technician at South Seminole Hospital in Longwood, Florida while attending Seminole State College pursuing a nursing degree. She later transferred to Lincoln Technical Institute completing her nursing program. In her first official nursing role at Central Florida Regional, Anesha also assumed the role of union delegate for 1199 SEIU. During this time, she developed a passion for photography. While working full time as a nurse she photographed concerts, musical artists, individual portraits and then weddings part time. She absolutely loved the wedding industry. Her vision was to create “Love Stories” through photography which began the birth of Unashamed Imaging. In 2010 she followed her passion and became a full-time entrepreneur and business owner as a photographer videographer and incorporated her company which is now known as Unashamed Imaging, LLC. Anesha’s passion for building relationships with her clients allowed her to capture emotional moments in great detail. As the business grew, she became not only an award-winning photographer, but her body of work also expanded into sports, commercials, branding, teaching, conferences, both local and international. Her photos have been featured in People Magazine, Huffington Post, Forbes, MunaLuchi Bride, The Knot, Brides, and Expertise.
Ever passionate about exploring life with refined sensibilities and a playful heart, Anesha enjoyed traveling, ladybugs, eucalyptus leaves, high-heels, community service, encouraging others to be their best selves, reading and spending time with her family. Anesha was preceded in death by her paternal great-grandparents Kenneth and Alice Collins and paternal grandmother Mary Jones Collins. She is survived by her parents Thomas and Paula Collins, her brother David T. Collins, sister-in-law Delia M. Collins, nephew Jordan T. Collins, nieces Aaliyah R. Collins and Isabelle M. Collins, paternal grandparent Thomas Collins, Sr., maternal grandparents Bennie Brown and Euzlia Harvell. Her aunts and uncles Tammy Collins, Bennie Brown, Nicole Rodriguez, Michael D. Brown, Leslie A. Brown, Nadine Brown and a host of family and friends.
