Obituary for Barbara E. Raposa
Barbara (Almeida) Raposa, age 87, of Oviedo, FL and formerly of Warren, RI passed away on August 9, 2024. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 65 years, John J. Raposa Jr as well as her son, Dennis J. Raposa and her brother Henry Almeida.
She was the daughter of the late Henry and Jeannette (Fortin) Almeida. She is survived by her daughter Donna M. Byers of Oviedo, FL, her grand-daughter Stephanie L. (Andrew) Giacona and her great-grandson Grayson Anthony Giacona, the light of her life, of Mooresville, NC. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law Kathleen A. Raposa of Warren, RI.
Barbara was born and educated in Warren, RI. She was employed as a secretary for the Warren School Department for 20 years before her retirement.
She and her husband John enjoyed square dancing, traveling in their motorhome and cruising the open seas. They moved to Palm Valley in Oviedo, FL in 2005. In 2022 they moved to Benton House Assisted Living in Oviedo, FL. While there, she participated in many activities and enjoyed the company of all the new friends she made and also the wonderful staff.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday- September 7th, 2024 at 11 am at Banfield Funeral Home, 420 W SR 434, Winter Springs, FL. A reception will follow. The burial will be private at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to: Dementia Society of America, P.O Box 600, Doylestown, PA 18901.
