Obituary for Bettie Lou Evans

Bettie Evans passed from this world on February 12, 2025 while resting peacefully in her sleep. She left us at 71 years of age. However, her time here was full of perseverance over challenges and time with her family.

Born in Louisa, Kentucky to her parents Lucille and Richard Akers, Bettie was the youngest of three children. Shortly after she was born, her family moved to Sebring, Florida where she would grow up and graduate from Sebring High School in 1971. After graduating she would attend finishing school, live in multiple different states across America in a multitude of jobs and explore who she was as a person, before having children, becoming a medical transcriptionist, and establishing permanent roots in Seminole County, Florida where she would ultimately pass.

Bettie raised two children - Lorynn and James. A single mother raising two kids was never easy, but she always stood up to the challenge with pride and determination. She was a fiercely independent woman who always believed in duty to her children, even at her own personal expense.

After working for nearly 40 years, the last 19 of which were with Florida Hospital in medical transcription, Bettie entered the final - and perhaps happiest point - of her life where she spent her idle time filled with her favorite things: reading, politics, traveling, and what she loved most of all, her grandchildren. Bettie is survived by three grandchildren. Those grandchildren lit up her life and gave her purpose and joy.

She spent many days video chatting with Audrey or reading with Jameson, and she always had time when the grandkids asked.

While Bettie may be gone, she is not forgotten. She leaves behind her two children, three grandchildren, and her oldest brother Bob.
