Billy Edward Boyd, 92, of Lake Mary, Florida, ascended to Heaven at 9:32 a.m. on July 23, 2025, at Orlando Health Hospital in Lake Mary following a brief illness. Born on October 31, 1932, in Ottumwa, Iowa, to Robert and Frances Boyd, Bill graduated from Ottumwa High School in 1951. He married the love of his life, Roberta Irene Arter, on December 1, 1951, and together they celebrated 73 years of marriage. In 1955, Bill and Roberta moved to Eugene, Oregon, where he worked in a lumber mill. They returned to Ottumwa in 1957, where Bill worked briefly at John Deere before becoming an engineer with the Milwaukee Railroad, a position he held proudly for 35 years. In 1977, he and his son Dan opened the Country Deli Restaurant on North Court. Bill also built several homes in the Ottumwa and Agency areas and later helped build an addition to his church in Lake Mary, Florida. A man of deep faith, Bill loved to read and study the Bible and was always eager to share his belief with others. After retiring, he and Roberta moved to Lake Mary, where they remained active in their church and community.
Bill is survived by his wife, Roberta Boyd; three daughters: Connie Jo Jarr (LaVaun) of Selma, Iowa; Terri Lynn Henson (Kyle) of Bradenton, Florida; and Linda Kay Boyd of Eustis, Florida; And one daughter-in-law, Kathy Boyd of Agency, Iowa. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Jason Jarr (Deb), Brent Jarr (Megan), Travis Jarr, Heather Wilson (David), Stacey Kreigh (Dave), Aaron Henson (Carleen), Joshua Henson (Kiri), and Colton Scherer (Kristina); five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws, Russ and Dorothy Arter; his beloved son, Dan Boyd; two brothers, Jack and Tom Boyd; and a great-granddaughter. Funeral services will be held at Reese Funeral Home on Saturday, August 2nd, at 1:00 p.m. Visitation with the family will begin at 12:00 p.m., one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Agency Cemetery following the service. Meal will follow the services at Living Hope Bible Church In Eldon, Iowa.
