Brenda Hayes Brown (1958–2025)
Brenda Hayes Brown, 67, of Winter Springs, FL, passed away on April 17, 2025, surrounded by her husband, family, and friends.
Brenda was born on February 19, 1958, in Kingston, NY, to Robert (Bob) Hayes and Norma (Naysmith) Hayes. She married Richard (Rick) Brown on January 2, 1999, and together they shared over 26 years of life, love, and unwavering commitment to one another.
She will be remembered for her deep love for her husband and family, her generous heart and unwavering loyalty, her keen intelligence and sharp wit, her tireless involvement in the community, and her passion for genealogy. Brenda was the co-founder of Rhythm and Blues Enterprises, which owns and operates several Tijuana Flats restaurants, as well as Pickles New York Deli.
She was an active member of many heritage organizations, including the Daughters of the American Revolution, the United States Daughters of 1812, the National Society of The Colonial Dames of America, and the United Daughters of the Confederacy. Brenda was also a member of the University of Central Florida Town and Gown Council, a past treasurer of that organization, and spent many years on the Board of Directors of the Oviedo-Winter Springs Regional Chamber of Commerce.
Brenda adored her dogs, especially her beloved Silky Terriers, and together with Rick, she rescued nine dogs throughout their marriage. She also had a deep appreciation for classic cars and her Scottish heritage, proudly supporting the Central Florida Scottish Highland Games for many years as a Gold Sponsor.
Brenda is survived by her husband, Rick; her mother, Norma; her three stepsons, Sean, Justin, and Brendan; her brother, Randy; her sister, Sheryl; nieces, Allyson and Carly; nephew, Andrew; as well as her aunt Nancy and several cousins.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 24, at 10 a.m. at Reformed Theological Seminary, 1231 Reformation Drive, Oviedo, FL 32765.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Brenda’s name to the Silky Terrier Rescue Charitable Trust, Florida Poodle Rescue, or the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
