Obituary for Carolynn A. Matthews

Carolynn A Matthews, 82, of Winter Springs, FL passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday July 24, 2024, with her loving Husband of 65 years by her side. Carolynn was born on September 3, 1941, in Brier Hill, NY, daughter of the late Carole and Madelyn Smith. She married Charles Matthews on June 27, 1959. Carolynn began working on becoming an RN once she raised her children. She received her bachelor's degree in nursing and retired as Nurse Administrator at St. Joseph’s Nursing Home, Ogdensburg NY. Carolynn enjoyed reading books, playing Bingo (with her best friend and Sister-in-law Janet) golf and the lottery. She also loved her visits with her grand pups, Noah, Molly and Rebel.


Carolynn is survived by her husband of 65 years Charles Matthews, Four Children, Stephen and Brenda Matthews, Apopka FL, Shelley Matthews, New Smyrna Beach FL Sandra and James Grausam, New Smyrna Beach FL and Bradley and Laurie Matthews Homer, NY. Seven Grandchildren, Christopher, Stephanie and Nick Matthews, Katie (Chad)Lee, Mary Grausam, Jennifer Grausam (Matt Bushnell) and Nathan Matthews. Eight great grandchildren, Madelyn, Layla, Penelope, Levi, Jayden, Liberty, Evan and Asher. She is also survived by her sisters Lynne Lockhart and Joy Kinces and Sisters and brothers in law Peggy and Ken Chambers, Janet and Pete Wheater, Jerry and Amy Matthews, and Jeff Mathews. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.


Carolynn was predeceased by her parents, mother and father-in-law Charles and Gladys Matthews, sister Patricia Sequin and brother Gary Smith, Great Grandson Robert, Niece Serstin Lango and Nephew Michael Sequin.

Per Carolynn’s wishes, there will be no services.
