Obituary for Christina Alukas Markunas
Christina Alukas Markunas passed into eternal life peacefully at her home in Casselberry, Florida with her family and friends by her side on January 26, 2022. She was 99 years old.
She was born in Worcester, Massachusetts daughter of the late Matthew Alukas and Katarina Galeckas. She leaves a sister Catherine Arrowood and her husband, Paul of Williamsburg, VA. She was predeceased by her twin brother Mickey and brothers Matthew and Raymond and her loving husband John of 57 years. And son-in-law Tom Price
She leaves behind three children, John Matthew, husband of Jean of Ft. Pierce, FL, Father Robert Markunas of Casselberry and Joyce Price of Sanford, FL. Two grand children John Matthew and his wife Joanne of Weymouth, MA and Janice and her husband Timothy LePrevost of Lee, MA. Four great grand children Jacob and his wife Breanne of Nashua, NH. Timothy and his wife Amelia of Becket, MA. Julie and Jason of Lee, MA. and several nieces and nephews whom she adored.
Christina was an industrious woman. She worked very hard all her life at various jobs. She was a caregiver for many people throughout her life. Great cook and wonderful housewife. She adored her husband, John. They had a great life together.
She belonged to the Lithuanian War Veterans Organization, Shrewsbury, MA and a member of the former St. Casimir’s Church in Worcester. She was very proud of her Lithuanian heritage. She loved to bake, crochet and found great enjoyment at bingo, scratch-off’s and at the Casinos. A woman of great faith and a proud member of St. Augustine’s Catholic Church in Casselberry.
We will miss her great strength, straightforwardness, and tenacity and most of all her quick wit and sense of humor.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated by her son, Fr. Bob on Saturday, February 5th at 11:30 am at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church, 375 Sunset Dr. Casselberry, Fl.
Prayers and Masses are appreciated. Family requests no flowers.
Graveside services will take place at a later date at Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester, MA
