Obituary for Daniel J. Martin, Jr.
Daniel J Martin, Jr (89yrs) of Winter Springs, FL passed away on March 22nd, 2023, surrounded by Family and Friends.
Dan was born in Buffalo, New York August 11th, 1933. He was the son of the late Daniel J Martin, Sr and Teresa Martin. He proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1951-1959. He worked for AT&T as a Telecommunication Specialist for 32 years before retiring. Dan, at the same time, kept busy working for the New York State Legislature in the 1960’s. After retiring, He worked again as an AT&T Representative at Universal Studios with all its benefits. In addition, He also worked for Seminole County’s Hospitality and Tourism Center before retiring again!
Dan was a large part of the Telephone Pioneers of America in the 1980’s, volunteers who are ready and willing to answer the call of those in need whether responding to a natural disaster or saving a natural habitat being threatened.
Daniel is survived by his wife, Joan and two children, Kenneth (Spouse Cheryl) and Linda (Spouse Ken). Five grandchildren: Matthew (Spouse Nicole), Julie (Spouse Matt), Ken (Spouse Dawn), Kelly (Spouse Donny) and Amanda (Spouse Darren). Eight great grandchildren: Katey, Samantha, Avery, Tyler, Brody, Colby, Griffin and Michael.
Aside from his love of his family, he was passionate about the military and helping the Veterans of America. Dan was even honored by Seminole County in September 2022 as Veteran of the Month which he was proud of.
Dan held many titles in his life, from Veteran to Telecommunication Specialist but his favorite role was being a Husband, Father, Grandfather, and especially “GiPa”. He loved nothing more than spending time talking about anything! He was always there for you if you needed something. He will be greatly missed.
The Family will host a memorial service on Saturday, April 15th, 2023, at 11:00am at Banfield Funeral Home & Crematory in Winter Springs, Florida.
In lieu of flowers make donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Advent Health Hospice at Altamonte Springs.
