Obituary for David Nelson Reese
David Nelson Reese, 88, of Winter Springs, FL passed away peacefully at home on March 7, 2025, after a long illness.
David was born on February 7, 1937, in Utica, NY. He was the son of the late Robert J and Mildred (Wilson) Reese. He served his country with honor in the United States Navy aboard the USS Ticonderoga aircraft carrier as a meteorologist. He graduated in 1961 from the Albany College of Pharmacy.
On September 3, 1960, he was united in marriage to Mary LeClair Strong of Goshen, NY.
David was a longtime resident of Goshen, NY where he was co-owner of Strong’s Pharmacy, chairman of the Orange County Pharmaceutical Society, fire commissioner with the Minisink Hook & Ladder Company, and chairman of the Board of Trustees with the Goshen Methodist Church. He worked as a pharmacist for 39 years.
David and his wife Mary traveled extensively and volunteered for Meals on Wheels.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Mary Reese of Winter Springs, FL; daughter Linda Church (Paul) of Saratoga Springs, NY, daughter Donna Henry (Patrick) of Winter Springs, FL; Jim Reese (Sharon Wright) of Winder, GA; granddaughter Leanne “Lee” Reese of Apopka, FL; sister-in-law Shirley Reese of New York Mills, NY; nephew Donnie Reese of Rome, Utica; nephew Mark Reese of Jupiter, FL; niece Nancy Tonneson (Chris) of Monroe, GA; Toni Reese of Utica, NY. He was predeceased by his brother Donald Reese Sr. of Clarks Mills, NY.
The family would like to thank the staff of Advent Health Hospice for the kindness and sincere compassion that was given to David and his family during his illness.
Per David’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or services. Arrangements are with the Banfield Funeral Home in Winter Springs, FL.
