DeWayne (Butch) Edward Lorenze
7/15/1938 – 10/31/2025
DeWayne (Butch) Lorenze, 87, of Winter Springs, Florida passed peacefully on October 31, 2025 surrounded by is loving family. DeWayne was born in Faribault, Minnesota on July 15, 1938 to Dorothy and Albert Lorenze. DeWayne grew up on a small family farm and worked helping his mom & dad manage the farm at the early age of nine years old. Around the time DeWayne was ready for High School, his family moved to the Twin Cities where he attended and graduated from Columbia Heights High School. While in school he worked odd jobs, was a drummer in a band at local clubs on weekend nights, and bagged groceries at the neighborhood grocery store to help with his family’s finances. After graduation he met and married the love of his life Sharon Marion Rostamo Lorenze, and they had two children Lisa and Todd.
In 1972, DeWayne relocated his family to Central Florida to embark on a more than a 50 year career as a Manufacture Representative in the HVAC industry, and in 1979 he established his own company Lorenze & Associates, Inc. The company has been operational for over 40 years.
DeWayne was a loving husband to Sharon for almost 50 years, a devoted father, a highly respected professional in his industry, and proud to be a member of Rotary International and the Rotary Club of Winter Springs, where his was awarded and honored as a “Paul Harris Fellow” for 50 years of perfect attendance.
The Rotary Club stated: “Butch was the heart and humor of the club – a man whose kindness, consistency and good nature defined what it means to be a Rotarian. He was the first to arrive at meetings, the first to greet a new face, and the first to offer support whenever anyone needed it. His perfect attendance record stretched longer than many of us have even been alive; a true testament to his dedication and love for Rotary and his community”. “Service Above Self” wasn’t a motto for Butch – it was his way of life”. “His absence will leave a void that cannot be filled. Butch wasn’t just a member of the Rotary Club of Winter Springs – he was a part of its Foundation. We will honor his legacy by carrying forward with his kindness, his humor and his unwavering commitment to service.”
DeWayne will be remembered by his family, colleagues and friends as someone who had the ability to make everyone he met feel important. He always had a smile, a story (especially proud to share stories about his children and grandchildren), or a joke to make the day just a little brighter. He was generous with his time & resources, his laughter and his heart.
DeWayne is predeceased by his wife, Sharon Lorenze, his granddaughter Taylor Marie Hicks, his mother and father Dorothy and Albert Lorenze, his sister Sandra Lorenze Lindman.
