Obituary for Dolores Grund
Dolores “Dolly” Grund, 90, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 3, 2018. She is survived by her children Gary (and Doris) Grund, Michael Grund, and Cindy VanNeste; her grandchildren Michael Grund, Alison (and Will) Hickman, Heather Johnson, Cristen Carlson, and Laura Johnson; her great-granddaughter Aubrey Hickman; and her sister Muriel “Dickie” Howell. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Harlan Grund.
Dolly lived the last 12 years in Arizona but had spent most of her life in Michigan and Ohio. She lived her life joyfully, never meeting a stranger. Those blessed enough to meet her immediately knew the genuine love that grew from her heart. She was not given an easy path in life, but never complained or took anything for granted; rather, she considered herself a “lucky” person for the love that surrounded her.
We will forever remember Dolly as the mother, grandmother, and friend that we were fortunate to have known. Her smile is ingrained in our hearts and her legacy of love lives on. “And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.” (1 Corinthians 13:13).
Dolly’s family will be hosting a viewing and visitation at Banfield Funeral Home (420 W SR 434, Winter Springs, FL 32708) on Friday October 12 from 6:00-8:00pm and a funeral Mass followed by reception at St Alban's Cathedral (3348 W SR 426, Oveido, FL 32765) on Saturday October 13 at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to the memorial fund started on her behalf. Those interested in contributing may make donations payable to St Alban's Anglican Cathedral with a memo earmarking for the "Dolores Grund Memorial Fund."
