Obituary for Donna Miller

Donna Marie Miller, age 84, passed away gently on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, following a brief illness, with her two loving children at her side. Born on February 26, 1941, in Delaware, Ohio, she overcame an arduous early life and built an adulthood defined by love, resilience, incredible creativity, and deep commitment to those she loved.

Donna found a lasting sense of home when she met the love of her life, Gary, affectionately “Gar” to her. The two were married on December 23, 1960, and built a devoted family together, raising a son and daughter. Countless memories include her familiar exclamations of “Gar!” woven into family jokes, always with Donna very much in on the laughter. These moments were often followed by a look of love and affection shared between the two of them.

After relocating to Sanford, Florida, in 1974, Donna worked in various retail positions, but her true gifts lay in her remarkable creativity. She envisioned beautiful spaces and translated those ideas into thoughtful guidance for Gary to bring to life. She had an intuitive eye for design and could transform the most ordinary finds into something extraordinary, turning a simple trinket into a centerpiece worthy of a magazine cover. Donna had the rare ability to make something meaningful from very little, and her imagination knew no bounds. Her talents were showcased not only through her involvement in the family-owned antique store, A Step Back in Time, and the careful restoration of thirteen historic homes in the Sanford, Florida area, but also in the cherished keepsakes and thoughtfully designed pieces for the homes of her children and grandchildren, each reflecting her vision, care, and attention to detail.

This creativity extended beyond projects and spaces, helping to shape the way Donna approached everyday life. She elevated even the simplest moments, bringing care, beauty, and intention to all she did. Time spent with her children and grandchildren was never passive; she filled it with imagination, storytelling, and play, creating memories that felt both magical and deeply personal. Family members will fondly remember her habit of quietly singing to herself, her beautiful voice making ordinary moments feel warm and familiar.

Donna is preceded in death by many members of her immediate family, and most importantly, by her beloved husband, Gary Miller. They were reunited in heaven just in time for Christmas. She is survived by her son, Jeffrey Miller (Kelly); her daughter, Lorrie Kovac; her grandchildren, Kathleen McKelvery, Chandler Miller (Jackie), Jesika Rohrbach, Allison Torres Pinto (Abraham), and Lauren Miller; and nine great-grandchildren, all of whom will forever carry her influence in their lives.
