Obituary for Elizabeth "Betty" Williams
Elizabeth “Betty” Ann (Joyce) Williams, June 9, 1937- November 9, 2021
Loyal & Loving Mother
Elizabeth Ann “Betty” Williams of Fern Park, Florida died peacefully at her home on November 9, 2021, at the age of 84. Betty was born June 9, 1937, in Cleveland, OH to Dorothy Ann (Keenan) Joyce and William Russell Joyce. She attended high school in Baltimore, MD and then moved to Orlando where she was married to Dan Williams from 1958-1977.
Her professional career consisted of everything from selling pet-doors and real estate to assisting top-notch therapists. She was highly instrumental in the administration and early success of Imago Relationships International. Betty remained active and engaged her entire adult life, most recently in her book club, Mahjong group, social committee at Lake of the Woods, and volunteered with several organizations. She was always creating loving keepsakes for her family. She was a master quilter and recently crocheted a beautiful blanket for her soon-to-be born great grandson.
Betty had an innate ability to make things “just right.” She used both humor and rational thinking to guide her, and her courageous and dignified heart was with her to the very end. Her loyalty, persistence, and order were everywhere she went and felt by all those she touched.
Betty loved her travels, both through books and film, as well as taking trips to Ireland, Iceland, Portugal, zip-lining in North Carolina and Costa Rica and enjoying Hawaiian family adventures.
She is survived by her siblings: Bill, Tom, Bob, and Trish Joyce; her five children: Danny (Julie), Mike (Aurelia), Steve, and Pat (Dianna) Williams of Central Florida, and Amy Elizabeth Gordon (Marc) of Hawai’i Island; her six grandchildren: Shane, Daniel, Blake, Travis, Everett and Tobias; her step-grandchildren Brian, Amanda, Chad and Namath and many nieces and nephews.
She was a woman of substance who leaves behind a strong legacy of love.
