Obituary for Erik Jacobsen
In loving memory of Erik Jacobsen age 80, passed away Saturday December 16th, 2017. Erik was born in Denmark Aug 17th, 1937. At the age of 17 migrated to Canada, where he met his devoted wife Rosalie of 58 years. In 1964 migrated to California. In 1967 Erik began his Disney journey starting at Disneyland, then helped open Walt Disney World in 1971. 1 year later Erik permanently moved his family to Florida arriving on his birthday August 17th, 1972 to return to Walt Disney World. Erik was well known as Facilities 1 at Disney where he frequently traveled the tunnels of the Magic Kingdom. Erik was Disney’s unofficial ambassador to Scandinavian visitors from other European Themed Parks. Erik also helped to create the Orlando Hager’s Viking Club. Erik is survived by his wife Rosalie, sons Dennis & Michael, daughter Brenda Bishop, brother Ingolf Jacobsen, sisters Sonja Andreasen & Conny Fraefel, grandchildren Colton, Kyra, Corbin & Connor Bishop, Stephanie & Erik Jacobsen. A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, Jan. 5, 2018, 11:00 AM at University Carillon United Methodist Church, 1395 Campus View Court, Oviedo, Fl.
