Obituary for Ernest R. Metz
If there is one phrase that could sum up the life Ernest Richard Metz, it’s “family man.” More than anything, he loved his immediate family with the passion God gave him throughout his blessed life of 94 years. Metz, of Winter Springs, Fla., passed away on Sept. 7, 2022.
Affectionately known by most as Ernie, he devoted himself to his wife of 70 years, Gloria, who survives him; and to his children, Steve (Kim Cole) of Ocala, Fla., Bob (Ann Metz) of Debary, Fla., and Patty Akers (Shawn Akers) of Casselberry, Fla., who also survive him. They were indeed the loves of his life.
Metz and his wife, who shared a passion for golf, moved from their native Ohio to Florida in 1983 after retirement as senior buyer for footwear for Lazarus Department stores.
A celebration of his life will be held at Tuskawilla United Methodist Church on 3925 Red Bug Lake Rd, Casselberry, Fla. on Saturday Sept. 17 at 2:00pm.
