Obituary for Francisco Garcia
Francisco Garcia of Winter Springs passed away on July 22 at the age of 85. He was born in Havana, Cuba in 1935 to Francisco and Carmen. He will be lovingly remembered by his beloved wife of 62 years, Gloria, their two children and their spouses, Frank (Andrea) and Carmen (Sergio), his only grandchild, Sergio, and his sister, Maria (and her husband Juan Manolo and two children Andy and Carlos), as well as many cousins spread throughout the United States.
In 1962, at the age of 26, “Paco” left Cuba with his wife, young children and mother-in-law to escape the Castro regime. Starting anew in the US, he worked his way up through the finance departments of several hospitals until ultimately retiring as the Chief Financial Officer of New York’s Saint Barnabas Medical Center. He lived much of his adult life in the New York/New Jersey area before moving to Florida in 1999.
Over the years, he helped much of his family get established after immigrating to the US from Cuba.
A private service for family will be held on Saturday July 25th at Banfield Funeral Home 420 West State Road 434, Winter Springs, FL.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to The Sharing Center (thesharingcenter.org) to help the hungry and needy in Seminole County to honor his legacy of helping others in need.
