Obituary for George E. Swoboda
George E. Swoboda (89) of Winter Springs Fl. passed away peacefully on Friday, May 15 at the Hospice of the Comforter in Altamonte Springs, Fl. with his loving family by his side. He was born on December 15, 1925 in Athens, Wisconsin and was the son of the late Martin and Madeline Swoboda. He graduated from Athens High School in 1943 and joined the U.S. Army in 1944 during World War II. He was assigned Army headquarters duty in the Pacific theatre serving in Hawaii, Okinawa, and Seoul, Korea. After being honorably discharged in 1946, George held numerous jobs including sailing the Great Lakes with the Merchant Marines. He moved to New York City in 1950 where he met and married his wife of 64 years, Mary Taylor. George was employed in sales in New York and New Jersey. In 1968, he moved his family from New Jersey to Cambridge, N.Y. when he was named the National Sales Manager for the Asgrow Seed Company until the company was sold in 1976. He held several sales related jobs in the garden industry until his full retirement in 1995. During his time in Cambridge, he was an active parishioner at St .Patrick

s Church, as well as a member of the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion. In 2013, after 45 years in upstate New York, George and Mary relocated to Winter Springs. Fl. His motto was;

In addition to his wife, George is survived by his two daughters: Terry Aiken (Ken) of Hazlet, N.J., Susan Vickers (Lee) of Winter Springs and his son Mike (Jen) of Celebration, Fl. He was also blessed to have one granddaughter, seven grandsons and one great-grandson. In addition to his parents, George was predeceased by his six sisters and five brothers.

A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 22 at St. Stephen Catholic Community, 575 Tuskawilla Road, Winter Springs, FL. Friends and family may call on Thursday. May 21 between 6 & 8 PM at St. Stephen

s chapel. Following the mass, interment will be at the National Cemetery in Bushnell, Fl. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to St Jude Children
