Obituary for Glendon Weatherholtz
Glendon Lee Weatherholtz went to be with his Lord and Savior on February 9, 2022, after a two and a half year battle of cancer. He was born on September 24, 1944 in Leesburg, VA to the late Glendon Paul Weatherholtz and Mary James Kestner, and was the younger brother to the late Mary Ellen Carter.
Glen graduated from Loudoun County High School in 1962. He worked on Arthur Godfrey‘s farm in Leesburg, VA until he enlisted in the Army, February 1965. Glen served one and a half tours in Vietnam, Army Corps of Engineers where he obtain the rank of Sergeant. He returned home November 1967.
Glen moved to Akron, OH after he met his late wife, Barbara Elaine Carnes. They married October 1968 and they had two daughters. He and wife “Bobbie” moved from Akron, OH to Orlando, FL in 1982 where he continued to work as an Engineer Foreman and Superintendent over the years on projects such as building the FL-417. Glen joined the City of Casselberry Public Works in charge of Streets and Fleet. Over the years he constructed many of parks and roads throughout the city. He retired early to care for his wife after she received her heart transplant in 2010. Glen was a member of Starlight Baptist Church since 2015 and a loyal servant to the Lord. While there he formed Starlight Veterans Association to help get medical equipment to the veterans and their families in need.
Glens wife of 53 years, Barbara Elaine Weatherholtz, had just proceeded in death six months prior to him, due to Covid Pneumonia.
Glen is survived by his oldest daughter Kimberly Pflug (Roger) of Longwood, FL, his youngest daughter Crystal Schroeder (John) of Winter Springs, FL, his five grandchildren, Cristen Lewis – Schroeder, Jacob Pflug, Nathan Pflug, Elizabeth Pflug, and Rachel Schroeder, as well as his older sister Hilda Jane Hucks (John) of Orlando, FL, and his younger brother Vernon Paul Weatherholtz (Sheron) of Daytona Beach, FL and half brother Ralph Michael Kestner of Aldie, VA.
We will be celebrating the life of both Glendon Weatherholtz and his wife Barbara Weatherholtz at Starlight Baptist Church, Saturday, March 5, 2022 at 1 PM.
A private graveside service for Glen and Bobbie will be held at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery in Mims, FL.
