Obituary for Hezekiah Marks
Early Life
Hezekiah Marks was born on October 25, 1938 in Lexington, Kentucky. He was the youngest child of Marion Marks and Laura Edna Winkfield-Marks. He had 4 siblings. Sisters: Odessa, Freda, Geralene, and 1 brother Jeremiah (all deceased.) Hezekiah is survived by his loving wife Deta Marks, his children Janice Matias ( Radelquis Matias)of New York, Laura, Theron, his late son Lincoln( Florida), 6 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild and other family members.
Military Service
After graduating from Bryan Station High School in Lexington, Ky, he enlisted to the (USAF) United States Air Force. He worked in textiles, then later became an instructor and a specialist of Survival Life Equipment. He also won the championship as Novice Boxer of the Dreux Air Force boxing team in France. He was deployed to several countries North Africa, Italy, France, England and parts of Asia, during his 20 years of service in the USAF. He was promoted to Master Sargent rank before retiring in 1976.
Marriage
While stationed in England in 1958, he met his loving wife Deta. They married in 1961 and have been married for 62 years ! They started a family and had four children all born in different parts of the United States. Hezekiah was an excellent father. He loved his family and raised his children with love, respect and a strict upbringing.
Hezekiah loved serving in the United States Air Force and was a great dedicated patriot to the end of his life.
