Obituary for Ivan Maldonado
Ivan Maldonado passed away on Monday, April 25, 2022, after a battle with a heart condition. He was 64.
Ivan was born in Utuado, Puerto Rico on October 1, 1957, to father Francisco Maldonado and mother Blanca Iris Maldonado. He attended the Universidad Interamericana de Puerto Rico for a degree in Psychology. Later he attended seminary at Chicago Theological Seminary. He was a published author, having written Cuentos de Mi Tierra.
Ivan was known for his overwhelming love of all those around him, his sharp wit, and his dedication to the Lord.
He loved with no regard to himself. He fully gave of himself to all those around him. He may have only fathered 3 children but many grew to love him as a father. He taught all of his children how to love; how to love a spouse, how to love a child, how to love the Lord, how to love without holding anything back. The example that he provided molded us to be who we are now and who we strive to be. We strive to love like him.
He was brilliant, well read, and wise. He used these attributes to share joy with all those around him. The laughs we shared will never be forgotten.
Early in life, he dedicated himself to the Lord and that decision shaped his life in ways that blessed all those around him. He provided us with comfort, love, and wisdom.
Ivan met his wife Maria Ivette Maldonado when they were very young. They became best friends when she was 14 and remained best friends throughout his life. They exemplified what a married couple should be.
Ivan is survived by his wife Maria, his children Maryori, Ivan Jr, and Jose and their spouses, Lemmuel, Amanda, and Beatriz, all who love him as a father. He is also survived by his 7 grandchildren Alondra, Lemuel Jr, Leilani, Yadden, Troy, Maia, and Josemy, 3 brothers Wilson, Nando, and Efrain, and 5 sisters Lila, Irma, Blanca, Rosa, and Evelyn.
The family will be holding his viewing at Banfield Funeral Home, at 420 W. State Road 434, Winter Springs, FL 32708 on Saturday, April 30th, 2022, from 2PM to 4PM. That will be followed by a service at 4PM. Due to sitting limitations, the service will be limited to 80 people. That being said, everyone is welcomed to the viewing.
