Obituary for Jacinta Linda Everest
Jacinta Linda (nee Clifford) Everest of Winter Springs, FL, passed away on Friday, November 25th 2015 at the age of 67.

Jacinta, who was widely known as “Joey” to many and affectionately as Lin to her family, was born July 25th, 1949 in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, Canada to parents Leslie and Margaret Clifford. She left Canada at a young age and moved to the US state of Maine where she graduated high school. Shortly after graduation she took a trip to the Cayman Islands where she met and married Edward L. Solomon, the father of her children, lifelong friend, and confidant.

In 1986, after two stints of living in the Cayman Islands, she permanently moved back to the United States and the state of Maine. It was there while working at Maine Aviation she met and married John Everest. Joey and John relocated to Winter Springs, FL in the early 90’s where they lived until their divorce. They remained friends until her passing.

For over a decade Joey worked for Oviedo Family Clinic and Dr. Pedro Chan where she was a dedicated and committed Office Manager. She made friends there who loved and often checked on her wellbeing. After OFC she was offered a job at First Baptist of Oviedo, now known as CrossLife Church, where she was able to combine her passion for writing and management as the Assistant to the Senior Pastor. Despite her illness Joey worked at CrossLife until her passing.

In her spare time Joey was a writer of short stories and poetry. In the last years of her life she was proud to be recognized and awarded for a number of her poems and short stories. She was also most proud of her published works, ‘Mangoes in the Sea.. and other memories from Cayman past,’ and ‘Body Matters, Simple Secrets for Elegant Aging.’

Joey is survived by her son Jamil R. Solomon; her daughter Tauna M. Solomon-Alcott; her sister Joyce Nichols; Daughter-in-law Simone, Son-in-law Michael; grandchildren Kashira, Logan, and Zayden; Great grandchildren Juliana and Treveen. She is also survived by brothers-in-law Richard T. Violette and Craig Nichols, sister-in-law Mary Clifford, and several very special nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her oldest brother Les Clifford, oldest sister Ann Violette, and younger brother Reg Clifford.

Special mention to her writer’s group, a phenomenal cast of ladies who encouraged her creativity, shared in her triumphs, sorrows, and stories.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the American Lung Society in her honor.
