James (Jim) Anthony AmRhein, 86, passed away on July 12th, 2023 in Oviedo, Florida. Prior to his passing, he was surrounded with love from his extensive family and friends.
Jim was born on March 26th, 1937 in Peoria, Illinois to Andrew and Clara AmRhein and is the youngest of five children. His brother, Richard lives in Illinois and Jim is predeceased by his brother Robert and sisters Carolyn AmRhein (Sister of Notre Dame) and Rosemary (AmRhein) Coyle.
Jim joined the US Army in 1955 and served as a Morse Code Interceptor in South Korea for 18 months. Following his tour, he became a Morse Code Instructor at Ft. Devens in Massachusetts. He was Honorably Discharged in 1958.
While serving in the Army, Jim met the love of his life, Jacqueline (Jackie) Ducharme, at the Hi-Hat Rollaway skating rink in Lowell, Massachusetts. They were married on September 5th, 1959 in Dracut, Massachusetts and celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary last fall.
Jim was the patriarch of a large family. He is survived by five children and their spouses: David (Kathleen) AmRhein, James (Mary Therese) AmRhein, Susan (Bertin) Karpinski, Michael (Tanya) AmRhein, Steven (Andrea) AmRhein, 14 grandchildren and spouses: Joseph (Erica) AmRhein, Scott (Jennifer) AmRhein, Michelle (Marco) Robles, Kimberly (Charles) Lester, Kristin AmRhein, Janine AmRhein, Andrew AmRhein, Jennifer (Robert) Meyer, Lisa Karpinski, Alyssa (Tanner) King, Eric AmRhein, Nicole AmRhein, Madison (Ditmar) Dici, Nicholas (Leilani) AmRhein, and six greatgrandchildren: Luke AmRhein, Riley Kate AmRhein, Mason AmRhein, Emma AmRhein, Mateo Robles and Sofia Robles.
Jim founded FSF Manufacturing Inc. (formerly Florida Stainless Fabricators, Inc.) on September 5th, 1984, producing stainless steel commercial kitchen equipment. He added manufacturing millwork and solid surface products to his portfolio. FSF products are installed throughout the United States. He was a very successful businessman, providing exceptional customer service and treating his employees as family. Jim started with five employees and grew it to 180 today. Three of his sons now run the business and three grandsons work there. He affectionally called FSF Manufacturing his “little sheet metal shop”.
Jim and Jackie are charter members of St. Stephen Catholic Community and are committed to their faith. They assisted with church operations for many years. Jim donated a large stainless steel cross that hangs in the sanctuary and the kitchen equipment in the parish hall. He donated other fabricated items to their church and to other area churches.
Jim enjoyed woodworking and built beautiful furniture for his home and others. He created an extensive workshop and loved to share it with family and friends. Jim enjoyed golf and snow skiing for many years. He loved to travel and visited many domestic and international destinations.
Jim was a dedicated son, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend. He set an excellent example to his family of love and joy. We believe Our Savior welcomed Jim home stating “Well done good and faithful servant” (Mt 25:23).
