Obituary for James Bevington Pitts

James Bevington Pitts, Jim to his friends , a 38 year veteran of airline sales and marketing retired in April of 1997 from USAirways as Manager of Sales and Marketing for Central Florida and Bermuda. Jim joined the University of Central Florida Foundation in May of that year as Senior Development Officer, a position he held until June of 2008.

Jim served for years in the Airfoce flying  MATS during the Korean War.

Educated at Elmhurst College, Orange Coast College and the University of Hawaii, Jim continued his traing with management courses at the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School, The University of Virginia Darden School,The University of Maryland and the Wellesley Institute.

Jim has been active in Community affairs in the Metro Orlando area for over 20 years. Currently he serves as a Board Member of the Enzian Theater and The Florida Film Festival. Past board memberships include The Central Florida Zoological Park,Chairman of the Seminole County TDC,Orange County Convention and Visitors Bureau, The Orlando Opera,The Orlando Symphony Orchestra, The Florida Academy of Travel and Tourism and the Hospitality Advisory Committee for Valencia College.

In addition he served as Chairman of the Board of Governers for Tuscawilla Country Club and Commodore of the Kahala Beach Yacht Club, Honolulu. Currently Jim is a Member of the Winter Springs Citizens on Patrol. (COP). Past memberships include Rotary, PATA, SME and ASMA.

Jim is a licensed Pilot. He has an Avid interest in Golf Sailing and Travel. He and his Wife and Soul mate Bobbie live in Winter Springs .

A Memorial Celebration will be Friday, January 9, 2015, 11:00 AM at the Church of the New Covenant located at 800 Tuskawilla Road, Winter Springs, FL 32708.  His cremated remains will be interred at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific in Honolulu, Hawaii.
