Born on February 22, 1939, in St. James, Montego Bay, Jamaica, he was taught the trade of plumbing at a young age by his late father, Charles Allen. He later moved to London, England, where he met and married Edith Jones. Together, they raised four children—Byron, Simone, Marsha, and Karon. The family eventually migrated to the United States, where James worked as a master plumber until his retirement.
James lived a life defined by hard work, generosity, and a deep love for his family. He will always be remembered for his humor, kindness, and wisdom.
He leaves behind his wife, Girldine Rodgers-Allen; his siblings, Dorothy Clark (Allen) and Iona Chen (Allen); his children, Byron Allen, Simone Allen, Marsha Thompson (Allen), and Karon Leigh-Belt (Allen)/Rodney Belt; and his cherished grandchildren, Kamaal Allen, Anthony Walters, Tristan Walters, William Brown, Deandra Dunkley, Jasper J. Fisher, Khadijah Leigh, and Jazmine Simone Fisher. He also leaves great-grandchildren Taj Walters, A’Yan Walters, Evangelie Walters, Adesanya Walters, Ehsaan Dunkley Jr., Dafari Dunkley, and Madison Walters.
He was a treasured uncle to Ian Moodie, Carl, Kevin Chen, Michelle Chen, and Warwick Chen, and a cherished friend to many.
James was preceded in death by his mother, Icilda Allen; father, Charles Allen; sister, Christine Findlater (Allen) and son-in-law Brandon Thompson.
James Clifford Allen will be deeply missed and forever loved.
