Obituary for James DeGrandi
James Vincent DeGrandi, known to all as Jim, 60, beloved husband, brother, uncle, and friend, died peacefully on Thursday, January 10, 2019, after a long illness. He was born in Hartford, Connecticut to Concetta and Vincent DeGrandi, married his best friend and love Caryl in 1980, and moved to Florida in 1987. Jim is survived by Caryl, by his sister Sally DeGrandi Ihnatenko, his brother Joseph DeGrandi, and many, many nieces and nephews.
Jim, a member of St. Stephen Catholic Community Winter Springs, Florida, served as a volunteer and youth minister for thirty-one years. His special ministry was teens, and he served as a Confirmation catechist, retreat coordinator, co-founder of the Acts of Faith teen musicals, and Teen Life in the Eucharist leader. Jim also was a Crusillo and Ultreya member, and an Adult Life in the Eucharist Associate and team member. Jim, a graduate of the University of Hartford, and Orlando College, worked as an accountant and trainer, and for the last five years Jim proudly worked at Pathways to Care as a case worker. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Stephen outreach, Pathways to care, or Hospice of the Comforter. We will all miss him greatly.
A funeral mass will be celebrated Monday January 21, 11:00 AM at St. Stephen Catholic Community.
