James Robert Grausam, 63, died on May 23rd, 2025 with his loving wife of 41 years by his side.
Jim was born in New Ulm, Minnesota on August 2nd, 1962 to Eugene and Theodosia (Shellum) Grausam. He joined the Air Force in 1982, where he met his wife, Sandy at Lowry Air Force Base, Denver, Colorado. They married on January 28th, 1984 in Little Rock, Arkansas. The military led them around the country to Alaska and New Jersey before they settled in New York to raise their family. They recently moved to New Smyrna Beach, Florida.
Jim spent over 30 years working in the aerospace industry, most recently as a quality supplier representative for Boeing. He loved fishing, hunting, grilling, and spending time with his friends, family, dogs, and grandbabies. He could make a friend anywhere he went, be it camp, hunting camp, or even the grocery store. He could tell a mean "Olie and Sven" joke, complete with accents, and was the absolute best story-teller. He could make any story entertaining, and would leave you laughing so hard you cried. He adored his fishing trips in Minnesota with his brothers, and shared that love of the outdoors with his children and grandchildren.
Jim is survived by his wife, Sandy; his daughters Jennifer (Matt), Katie (Chad), and Mary; and his father-in-law Charles Matthews ("Pops", "Poppy"). Loving grandfather ("Grampy") to Madelyn, Layla, Evan, Asher, and Penelope. He is also survived by his siblings Tom, Patty (Steve) Burdick, Nanette (Bob) Helgeson, and John (Evie); sisters-in-law Kathy and Nancy Grausam, and Shelley Matthews; brothers-in-law Steve (Brenda) and Brad (Laurie) Matthews; close friends of over 20 years, Todd and Denise Tyo; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Jim was predeceased by his parents; his siblings Bob, Sister Mary Ann, and Mike; his grandson; his grandma, Mary; and his mother-in-law, Carolynn ("mom") Matthews.
There will be a private celebration of life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite children's charity.
He believed that you should look for the humor in any situation. Jim will be greatly missed.
