Obituary for Janice Juanita Whitney

Janice Juanita Cater-Whitney left this world on January 19th at 1 AM 2024 to be with the Lord after suffering from Alzheimer's for several years. Born to Maude (Burns) and Henry Cater on January 3rd, 1938, in Franklin Parish Louisiana, Janice was the only sister to her 3 brothers Ed Lee, Ray and Bud (Reginald) Cater. Her mother passed away when Jan was only 11 years old and was raised by her Aunt Helen and Uncle Oather. Her first cousin, Margaret was more like a sister to her and remained close throughout the years. Jan joined the Air Force and then worked at NASA after being honorably discharged from the Air Force. Jan followed her calling and passion to become a registered nurse (RN) putting herself through school while working full-time. She nursed for over 40 years. In various hospitals to include Herman Memorial in Houston, Texas and Saint Joseph's in Hot Springs Arkansas as well as the Rehab Center in Hot Springs. Jan married Bob Whitney in Marshall, Arkansas in 1975. She is survived by her daughter, Teresa Whitney-Mohler of Leesburg, Florida. After her husband Bob died in 2004, Jan lived in Oklahoma, Louisiana and for almost 14 years in Florida near Teresa. Her greatest passion was when she became an ordained minister in Hot Springs Arkansas, where she and Bob ran a mission downtown. At her request, no service will be held. The family wishes to extend their immense gratitude to the exceptional care given by Angela Moore and all of the Apopka North ( now Solaris) Royal Palm staff over the last several years. She would not want to be defined or remembered by the debilitating mind-stealing disease Alzheimer's is, rather the carrying RN who loved and followed Jesus with all her heart.
