Jean C. Perla (née Noll), 79, passed away on October 18, 2024, in Orlando, FL. Born on November 22, 1944, in Loretto, PA, she grew into a beacon of warmth and creativity, touching the lives of many with her broad smile and infectious laugh.
Jean attended Pleasantville High School, later receiving her GED, of which she was immensely proud. As a single mother she worked in multiple industries to support her family (three teenagers in the 70’s!!). She finished her working life with a career dedicated to the health care sector. Jean was universally liked (i.e. everyone has a special spot for Jeanie) embodying a trailblazing spirit and a steadfast resolve to aid family and friends in need.
Her can-do attitude seems to have stemmed from her recovery from childhood polio; she was one of the last polio victims prior to the distribution of vaccines. She overcame the shock of quarantine and then recovered from partial paralysis; she was an actual poster child. From there she was able to pursue her personal passions, in particular her self-taught ability to play piano. Jean had a knack for fixing anything that needed repair, and was the driving force of her home, especially the kitchen where she loved to share her skills with her children and grandchildren.
She is remembered as a loving mother and grandmother, or "Grandmom/ma," as affectionately called by her grandchildren. Jean's legacy of love and strength lives on through her children, Ken, Jim, and Donna Perla; her grandchildren: Anthony Perla, Aria Starr, and Daniel, Sofia, Cecilia, and Benjamin Perla; her siblings, Mary Anne Whitehurst, Patricia Miller, Robert Noll, and multiple nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Hanlon Noll and Pete Noll; and her siblings, Wayne Noll, Janet Janos, Peg Matuella, and Bernadette Boyle.
Jean's life was a testament to her enduring spirit and her ability to make each moment count, leaving behind a legacy of joy and resilience. Her family and friends will forever cherish the memories of her creative, fun, strong, and loving nature.
