Obituary for Jerry Doyle
Jerry passed away at his home in Casselberry, Florida on Saturday July 8, 2023. He was 68.
Jerry was born in St Petersburg, Florida on March 29, 1955 to parents Robert and Gretchen Doyle. His father served in the United States Navy where he completed his training as an air traffic controller. His mother graduated from the University of Iowa School of Nursing as a registered nurse. When Jerry was 4 years old the family moved to Orlando after his father accepted a position as an Air Traffic Controller at Herndon and McCoy airports. In 1960, the family was blessed with a new addition, a baby girl Lori. Jerry was now a big brother! The family resided in Orlando until 1967 when they moved to Casselberry after building their new lakefront home which the family still owns today.
Jerry’s first job was at age 14 working at Casselberry Country Club where he discovered a love for golf and enjoyed playing throughout his life.
Jerry graduated from Lyman High School in 1973. After graduation he worked various jobs while attending Seminole Junior College. When he completed his education there he accepted a security position at Orlando Regional Medical Center. While employed with the hospital he went on to attend Rollins College and graduated in 1984 with his Bachelors Degree in Business.
After graduation, Jerry established his own landscaping company “Lawn Ranger” which he successfully owned and operated until his retirement in 2018.
On August 4, 1989, Jerry became a father after the birth of his son, Kyle Joseph. Jerry started Kyle in baseball at an early age. He played Little League, Babe Ruth and for Winter Springs High School where he attended. Kyle was a star pitcher and he and Jerry spent a lot of time together training and practicing. Jerry helped many times as an assistant coach for Kyle’s teams. Kyle also loved the game of golf and spent time with his dad playing and hitting golf balls at the driving range. As Kyle got older he worked with his dad in their landscaping business and to this day, Kyle works for a local landscaping company as a supervisor. He had lots of experience!
Along with golf, Jerry enjoyed other hobbies such as boating, fishing, attending car races, car shows and spending time with his family and friends many of them from high school.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. He is survived by his son Kyle Doyle, nieces Lindsay Geigel, Amy Glynn, Courtney Blanco (Carlos), nephews Andrew Lacy (Samantha), Todd Krause, 3 great nieces, 4 great nephews, sister Lori Krause (David), aunt Nancy Doyle, Vacaville, California, cousins and friends.
