James Tucker Fry III (Jim)
January 14, 1938 – February 8, 2025
James Tucker Fry III, known to friends and family as Jim, passed away peacefully on February 8, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering dedication to those he cherished. Born on January 14, 1938, to J.T. “Tuck” Fry and Gene Johnson Fry, Jim lived a life defined by faith, integrity, kindness, and an ever-present twinkle in his eye.
Jim shared 65 wonderful years of marriage with the love of his life, Pat Fry. Together, they built a beautiful family and a lifetime of joyful memories. A devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Jim’s legacy endures in the values he instilled—hard work, loyalty, and an unshakable love for family. He is lovingly survived by his wife, Pat; his sons, Jim (married to Marcie), their sons Curtiss (married to Jackie), his great grandchildren, Tucker, and Harper, and Andrew (married to Rebakah), and son Greg (married to Paula), their daughter Paige and son Thomas, and brother Steve Fry.
A lifelong supporter of Auburn University, Jim’s passion for Auburn football was unmatched. Win or lose, he remained a staunch fan, always eager to cheer on his Tigers. His enthusiasm for the game was rivaled only by his love of golf—a sport at which he excelled. His three holes-in-one were a testament not only to his skill but also to his patience and perseverance, qualities that enriched every aspect of his life.
Professionally, Jim dedicated his career to Safeco Insurance, playing a pivotal role in developing and supporting agencies and their operations. His colleagues remembered him as a man of unwavering integrity, always willing to offer guidance and wisdom while nurturing meaningful relationships that extended well beyond his years in the industry.
Jim was also deeply committed to the Tuscawilla Rotary Club, serving since its inception in the early 1980s and rising to become its second President. His dedication to service and community reflected his generous spirit and steadfast commitment to making a difference.
Jim’s presence was a gift to all who knew him. His humor, warmth, and generosity left an indelible mark on his family, friends, and community. Though he is no longer with us, his spirit will forever remain on the fairways he loved, in the roar of Jordan-Hare Stadium, and in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A celebration of Jim’s life will be held at Cross Life Church on February 22, 2025, where friends and family will gather to honor his remarkable journey. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation (alzfdn.org) in his memory.
War Eagle, Jim. You will be dearly missed.
