It is with great sadness that the family of Joanne Veronica Havlicek a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother passed away peacefully at her home on June 16th at the age of 81, surrounded by her loving family. She grew up in Cicero, Illinois where she attended Burnham Grammar School, J. Sterling Morton East High School and Morton Junior College and obtained a 2-year associate degree. Afterward, she worked at Mid America Bank in Cicero, Illinois and then focused her time on taking care of and raising her family. She was the daughter of Joseph and Anna Holly and grew up in Cicero with her brother Richard and enjoyed summers at the family cottage in Wisconsin. Joanne and her husband Robert began their lives together after meeting in high school where they became sweethearts. After time, their loving bond grew upon mutual trust, friendship, common experiences, and the love blessed upon them from our Heavenly Father. Over the next 65 years, they lived every moment together enjoying shopping, garage sales, vacations, and the joys of raising their children together and recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Joanne was a homemaker and was a long-time volunteer at Casselberry Elementary School for over 30 years. She enjoyed reading books, games on her computer, cards, arts and crafts, playing the piano, and was dedicated to her family. She was always there to listen, to provide advice, or to offer hugs with encouragement that things will always get better. She loved as a mother and did not miss a chance to spoil the grandchildren as a grandmother. The constant presence of being a wife, mother, and grandmother will be forever in our hearts and never forgotten as you have taught us patience, understanding, and how to love unconditionally. Joanne is survived by her husband, Robert of 60 years, two children, Yvonne Starkey and David, grandchildren Stacey, Ashley, and Dylan, and her younger brother, Richard Holly (Debbie) Knoxville, TN. A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
