John C. Donahue

A curious and rambunctious child born to John and Grace Donahue, he loved being at his Grandpa’s farm in Washington, Massachusetts.
John grew up to ride motorcycles, take photographs and train dolphins for Miami Sea Aquarium. He was responsible for transferring the dolphins to Chicago, IL. While in ‘The Windy City’ he fell in love with Dianne Brown; they married and raised a family while ‘PCSing’ wherever in the world the United States Army ordered.
After enlisting, he was stationed at Munich, Germany where he applied to Flight School. He trained at Ft. Wolters, Texas. After graduation he was promoted to W2. John served two tours in Vietnam flying both the UH-1 “Huey” and the AH-1 “Cobra” while assigned to the 174th AHC. He was promoted to 1LT in Vietnam and returned to the United States. Shortly thereafter, he was promoted to Captain and served at Ft. Campbell and Ft. Benning. He then received orders for Europe and was assigned to Erlangen, West Germany. CPT Donahue commanded Combat Support Company 1st Battalion of 46th Infantry 1977-1980. John and family returned stateside in 1980 and wrapped up his Army career in 1983 while stationed at Ft. Riley, KS.
Major Donahue retired 30 Nov 83 and the family moved to Florida.
Adventures continued for John, when in 1986 he was hired on by LSI (Lear Siegler International) and was assigned to Dhahran, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Two years later, he returned to CONTUS and invested 20 years driving a school bus for the School Board of Brevard County, FL.
John is survived by his wife of 56 years, Dianne and their children Jon and Cathy. He also leaves behind his Grandchildren Reed, Liam and Emily. John is also remembered by his Daughter-in-law, Diane and his Son-in-law, Troy.
John will be forever remembered for his love of family, Classical music, Coors, Johnnie Walker Blue and Chocolate Brownies.
