John Edward Tooley, formerly from Wallace, passed away in Winter Park (FL) on February 13, 2026, while a resident of Winter Park Care and Rehabilitation Center. Born in Decatur (IL) on May 30, 1937, he is the son of John Charles Tooley and Althea Louise Peck Tooley. Also preceding him in death is his wife-Pauline Joyce Tooley.
Left to cherish his memory are his children- Scott Tooley and his wife Amal of Winter Springs (FL), Dinah Hoffman of Rose Hill, Wendy Allen and husband Paul of Debary (FL), Jodi Aikens of Turner (MI), Mark Tooley of California, Sue Hunt and husband Tracy of Taylorville (IL); fifteen grandchildren, and eighteen great grandchildren.
Ed spent his early life in Iowa where he was an owner/operator of his own trucking business. In 1993, his trucking business brought him to Wallace, NC where he later retired. During his fifty plus years in his trucking career, he traveled over five million miles. In his younger years, Ed served his country as a private in the United States Army from 1963-1965.
A funeral service to celebrate his life Is set for Thursday, February 26th at 6pm at Banfield Funeral Home in Winter Springs (FL). Family will greet friends at a visitation set for 4:00-6:00 pm prior to the service.
A graveside service is set for Monday, March 2nd, 2026 in the Rockfish Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Wallace (NC). Padgett Funeral Home is serving the Tooley family and Winter Springs arrangements are by Banfield Funeral Home and Crematory.
