John J. Raposa, Jr age 90 of Oviedo, Florida passed away December 31, 2022. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Barbara (Almeida) Raposa of 65 years. He is also survived by his daughter, Donna Byers of Oviedo, Florida, his granddaughter Stephanie (Andrew) Giacona of Mooresville, North Carolina, his daughter-in-law Kathleen Raposa of Warren, Rhode Island and his brother Paul (Kathy) Raposa of Riverside, Rhode Island. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents, John Sr and Mary (Santos) Raposa, his son Dennis J. Raposa, his sister Veronica Brelsford and nephew Kevin Brelsford all of Rhode Island. John was born in Warren, Rhode Island and educated in Fall River, Massachusetts. He served in the Army during the Korean War. An accomplished musician, John was the organist at St. Thomas The Apostle Church in Warren, Rhode Island for 50 years. He also performed with his own orchestra, The Celebrities, for 25 years. John retired in 2002 as a draftsman and enjoyed travelling throughout the United States with Barbara, in their motor home. They also enjoyed cruising on the open waters. John and Barbara moved to Oviedo, Florida (Palm Valley) in 2005 to spend time with their daughter and granddaughter. John was a member of the Palm Valley choir as well as a member of the C.E.R.T. program. He was an avid New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox fan. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Saturday, January 21, 2023, at 10 am at Banfield Funeral Home, 420 West SR 434, Winter Springs, Florida. The burial will be a private ceremony at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery the following week. In lieu of flowers please make donations to The Parkinson Association of Central Florida.
