Obituary for Jon Hernan
It is with immense grief and sadness, the family of Jon James Hernan announce his sudden passing on Sunday, June 20, 2021, at the age of 49.
Jon will forever be remembered by his loving family, including his wife Heather and daughters Hannah, Abigail and Emily, his parents James and Andrea, brother Patrick, mother-in-law Virginia, and many other relatives and friends.
Jon enjoyed a varied career as a trial lawyer defending major corporations, such as automakers, amusement parks, chemical companies, and other manufacturers, attaining significant trial experience and frequent flier miles along the way. He began his legal career as an associate at Cabaniss Smith Toole & Wiggins, followed by Wilson Elser Moskowitz Edelman & Dicker, and almost 10 years with Seipp Flick & Hosley. In February 2016, Jon and his partners joined the national firm of Bowman and Brooke, where he was named the Managing Partner of Orlando (Lake Mary), FL office in February 2021.
A professional golfer in the Miami, Florida and Washington, D.C. areas, Jon continued his lifelong passion for the game. He took advantage of many business trips to tee up with friends and colleagues all over the country including places such as California, Arizona, Texas, Georgia, and of course up and down both Florida coasts. A 2003 graduate of the Florida State University College of Law, Jon was a fanatical Seminole and devotee. However, more than anything Jon loved being a dad to his three girls.
A funeral mass to celebrate Jon’s life will be held on Friday, July 2nd at 10:00 a.m. at St. Stephen Catholic Church in Winter Springs, Florida. A private family burial will be at 11:30 a.m. at Queen of Angels Catholic Cemetery in Winter Park. A reception will immediately follow the burial at Tuscawilla Country Club, also in Winter Springs.
A memorial scholarship fund for Jon’s daughters has been arranged by Bowman and Brooke. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to Bowman and Brooke, c/o Jill Caspers, Director of Finance, 150 South Fifth Street, #3000, Minneapolis, MN 55402, jill.caspers@bowmanandbrooke.com.
