Joyce Generali passed away peacefully on November 28, 2023, at Halifax Health Hospice Center. Joyce, the daughter of Bernadine and Patrick Halloran was born on April 25, 1935, in Chicago, Ill. She spent her early years in the Chicago area with her two sisters Patricia and Mary. While working for the US Naval Training Center Joyce met her future husband, Louis Generali. They were then wed in Chicago in November of 1955.
After their wedding they moved to Connecticut where Louis had family. They soon had their first daughter Dina (deceased) in 1956 and followed by Mark (deceased) in 1957. The family would then move down to Huntington West Virginia to be with her parents while Lou attended College. After graduation, the family went back to Hartford Connecticut where their second son Michael was born in 1962.
Joyce and the three children moved to the Orlando area in 1968. This allowed her to be near her family who had previously moved from WV. Her divorce was finalized in 1971. After the divorce she worked for numerous golf courses as membership director. She would soon be asked to join a startup company, Assessment Designs, Inc. ADI grew into the leading company in phycological based hiring and promotion of employees in America. After the sale of ADI, she joined the previous owners in a new startup called Electronic Selection Services. At ESS she worked her way up to Vice President. One of the things she was most proud of was her college degree. She received her degree from Rollins College in Winter Park in the early eighties. This was after numerous years of going part time as she was raising three kids and working a full-time job.
Upon her retirement she spent many years traveling the world. She loved going on new adventures. This took her to such places as Africa, Ireland, Greece, Italy, and Monaco.
Her main job was of course being a mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She raised her three kids with care and love. She was always there for them no matter what they might have been going through. She was also the grandmother to her daughter Dina’s two children Ally Atwood 34 and Josh Kuiper 28 and great grandmother to Ally’s son Dax Deming. Nothing made her as happy as being in their company. She is also survived by Mary’s daughter Sharon Setright of Winter Springs, Fl, and Patricia’s two boys Matt of Glenwood Springs, Colorado and Dan of Harrisburg, Viginia.
Special recognition should be made of Michael’s wife Patty and Joyce’s niece Sharon. They were both instrumental in her care as she progressed. Their help was invaluable, and she knew how fortunate she was to have them by her side. She loved both as her own.
Joyce was a special lady. She will be missed tremendously.
In Lieu of flowers, donations are being accepted to Halifax Health Hospice.
