Larry Ray Gesell, age 77, of Winter Springs, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on September 15, 2024. A devoted husband, loving father, and cherished grandfather, Larry will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Born in 1947 to Glenn and Bernice Gesell, Larry was the eldest of their children. He is preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his brother, Leonard Gesell of Taylorville, IL; his beloved wife, Lois Gesell; son and daughter-in-law, Ryan and Brandi Gesell of Mechanicsburg, PA; daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie and Todd Shell of Oviedo, FL; five grandchildren, Makayla, Cameron, Brandon, Caleb, and Kaitlyn; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Larry graduated from Centerville Community College in Centerville, Iowa, and proudly served as a Navy Corpsman attached to the Marines from 1968 to 1972. After his military service, he built a career as an electrician, later becoming a Facilities Director. Known for his handyman skills, Larry had a talent for building and fixing just about anything.
An avid golfer and lover of the Lord, Larry often shared his fun, goofy side, bringing joy and laughter to those around him. He showed his love through countless acts of service, always ready to lend a helping hand. His dedication to family and friends was unwavering, and his spirit of generosity will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
A burial will take place at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery TBA. A Celebration of Life will be held at Banfield Funeral Home, 420 FL-434, Winter Springs, FL 32708, Saturday September 28th at 2 PM. All who knew Larry are welcome to join us in honoring his remarkable life.
