Obituary for Lawrence W. Carroll Jr.
Lawrence W. Carroll, Jr., of Altamonte Springs, FL, known to his friends as Larry, passed away on January 4, 2018, at home and surrounded by family. He was 82 years old and lived a full and meaningful life. He was born in Afton New York in 1935, but in 1940, his family moved to the Orlando area. He was a graduate in the last class of Orlando High School and attended the University of Florida at the ripe old age of 16, where he earned a BS Degree in Business and Finance in 1956.

At UF, he was incredibly active on campus and a well-known leader. Honors/Activities included: the Outstanding Graduating Leader Award, 1956, given by the UF Alumni Association; UF Hall Of Fame; Florida Blue Key Leadership Honorary; Chancellor of the Honor Court; President of the UF Baptist Student Union; Delta Tau Delta Social Fraternity; UF Varsity Debate Team. Phi Kappa Phi Scholarship Fraternity; Phi Eta Sigma Scholarship Fraternity; He was also appointed by then-UF President J. Wayne Reitz to serve on the committee for building the Florida Union.

Upon Uf graduation, he completed Officer Candidate School and became a Ltjg in the U.S. Navy, stationed in Charleston, SC. He married college sweetheart Sandra Blunk on April 4, 1958. He then went on to graduate from UF College of Law in 1965 and was admitted to the Florida Bar that same year. He practiced law in the Orlando area for over 40 years, specializing in estate planning, corporate and business law and real property law. He was a statewide officer on Executive Council of the Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section of the Florida Bar. He was also a member of the Orange and Seminole County Bar Associations. He was a frequent speaker at church and civic groups in estate planning and administration, wills and trusts.

He was very active in the Central Florida community during his career and beyond. He served as a charter member and the President, Vice President and Director of the Rotary Club of Seminole County South and was a Paul Harris Scholar. He was the President and Chairman of the Seminole County Mental Health Center Board for two terms. He served on the Advisory Committee for the Council on Aging for Seminole Junior College, the RSVP Council and the Government Affairs Committee for the Greater Seminole Chamber of Commerce. He also served on several Bank Boards during his career.

He is a current member of All Saints Episcopal Church and a former Ruling Elder and Adult Sunday School Teacher at First Presbyterian Church of Maitland. He was an award-winning artist and trombone player. Although he was Irish, he adored Greek dancing and food. He loved the ocean and was an avid skin-diver all over the world. He will be missed terribly by his loving wife of close to 60 years, Sandra Blunk Carroll, and his daughter, Lorraine Carroll-Bowman (Greg), his son Steven Lawrence Carroll (Trudii) and his only grandchild, Brendan Patrick Bowman, age 16.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on February 6, 2018 at 3:00 PM at All Saints Episcopal Church in Winter Park, FL. He was buried with military honors at Greenwood Cemetery on January 6, 2018.
