Marcy gave up her long battle with Metastatic Breast Cancer on October 3, 2024 at the age or 51. She was born at Lebanon Hospital, Lebanon, Indiana on July 24, 1973 although the family lived in Crawfordsville, IN. When she was 5, her family moved to St. Lucie County, FL. After graduating from Westwood High School in Ft. Pierce, FL, she attended the University of Central FL and received her BS from there.
She is survived by the family who loved her dearly: Husband, Joey Morace; daughter, Taylor Morace; Mother, Elda Nelson Herbison; Uncle Jim Nelson and wife Glenda; Cousin, Jayme Nelson Merkling and her sons Zac and Ty; Mother-in-law, Nancy Morace.
She was preceded in death by her father, Keith Gerald Herbison (1992); grandparents James and Dorothea Nelson, Gerald and Alice Herbison, and Father-in-law Ron Morace.
Marcy loved her family more than anything and loved all their activities and trips together. She loved coaching Taylor’s softball teams and being “team mom” for Taylor’s archery team. She had a huge, generous heart that meant she would give her all to whatever she was undertaking including this battle with cancer. She fought to the very end so she could spend as much time with Joey and Taylor as possible. Her boss at Lockheed-Martin, Daniel Samson, said his biggest takeaways from their conversations over the last year were her love of God, her love for her family and her dedication to her job.
There will be no filling her shoes, there will be no way to stop missing her. But in remembrance of her and her brave fight, please, get a yearly mammogram as soon as possible. She was too young to even think about mammograms when she discovered the lump that eventually took her life.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her honor can be made to: The American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer OR the Student Camp Ministry at Westview Baptist Church; 4100 H.E. Thomas Jr. Pkwy; Sanford, FL 32771
