Maria V. Calderon, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2025 at age 91. Born on September
12, 1934, in the Dominican Republic to Manuel and Carmen Cuello, Maria lived a life marked by
resilience, love, and joy.
Raised in the vibrant culture of her homeland, Maria immigrated to the United States in her late
twenties, bringing with her a spirit of adventure, determination, and grace. She earned her high
school diploma and completed professional seamstress training, which she used throughout her
life in her work and home. Maria was a skilled seamstress, a devoted mother and homemaker,
and a beloved bakery clerk whose warmth touched everyone she met.
Maria was a proud mother to Hernando and Janet, and her life revolved around her children. She
was a fiercely loving and protective mother, always putting her family first. Her Catholic faith
guided her through life’s joys and challenges, and she found solace in prayer and community.
Known for her outgoing nature and kind heart, Maria brought light into every room. She loved
coffee, gardening, baking, dancing, and singing—especially dancing. Her children fondly
remember how she would break into dance whenever music played, no matter where they were.
That spontaneous joy will forever echo in their hearts.
She created a home where all were welcome and the table was always set. Food was love. She
loved feeding people and making them feel like family.
Maria will be remembered for her unwavering love, her vibrant spirit, and the legacy of kindness
she leaves behind.
"She danced through life with love in her heart and music in her soul.
