She grew up in South Charleston, West Virginia, on a base called Armor Park which was owned and operated by the U.S. government. Armor Park was maintained by the Navy and the Marines. Her dad worked there and was within walking distance of the Naval Ordnance Plant as it churned out naval weapons around the clock during World War II. Armor Park had a swimming pool, tennis courts, baseball field and a private elementary school. She attended the school until the 7th grade. A marine was on duty every night and patrolled the area.

She always said he was a very charming man and so convincing that every time he would give the commercial for Lipton Tea it made her want to go in the kitchen to have a cup.
She operated a dance studio in Fort Myers, Florida for 15 years teaching ballet, tap and acrobatics.
Her husband was transferred to Orlando in 1978 with United Telephone at which time she went to work for Orange County, Clerk of Courts, Mental Health Division. After she retired, she worked part-time with the law office of Cloninger & Files in Oviedo.
Her first love was her family and her church. She was an active member of First Christian Church in Winter Park for 33 years. Even though she was no longer able to drive, she was still active in the Network Program.
She was an active member of the Sunshine Garden Club in Tuscawilla for 30 years and enjoyed time with her numerous great friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Franklin McCormick, her son, John Myron McCormick and her grandson, Anthony (Tony) Capri.
