Mary Theresa (Scarlato) Boyle Mitchell, entered into eternal rest Sunday, January 17th, peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loved ones.
Mary Theresa was born on January 12, 1946, in Shenandoah, PA, to Joseph & Alvera (Angelozzi) Scarlato, now deceased.
Mary Theresa was raised in Kelayres, PA and graduated Hazleton Senior High School, Class of 1963. After high school, she attended Pierce Jr. College in Philadelphia, PA, and worked in Philadelphia for a short time.
When she moved back home Mary Theresa met her husband, Edward J Boyle, and they began their beautiful life together. Shortly after their marriage, the Boyles moved from PA to Kendall Lakes, FL where they had two children, Brian and Amy Boyle Carroll. In 1979 they settled in Winter Springs, FL where they made many close friends. MTB, as she was known to friends was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as Nana. Mary made friends everywhere and enjoyed her work as a receptionist at a hair salon. Tragically, her husband, Ed, passed away in 1989.
Many years after the passing of her husband, Edward, Mary Theresa married David Mitchell in 2011 where they continued to reside in Winter Springs, Florida. An active member of St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, Mary also enjoyed playing Bunco with friends and traveling. She is known as kind and humble, with a gentle soul and easy-going nature.
She is survived by her loving husband, David, her adored children, Brian & Amy Boyle Carroll, and her best friend and sister, Barbara Scarlato Peckham. She is also survived by her caring stepson, David Jr Mitchell, his wife, Mickey and their two children, Alexis, and Riley. She had a wonderful son-in-law, Stephen, and the love of her life, her granddaughter, Evelyn Grace. She was blessed with many nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews and an incredible sister-in-law, Janet Boyle Richards.
Mary Theresa was diagnosed with a rare degenerative brain disease called Corticobasal Degeneration. She fought for many years with grace and dignity. We are grateful to those who loved and helped care for her. In lieu of flowers you can donate in her memory at https://pspcbdfoundation.org/honor/
