Obituary for Matthew Joseph Buzanowski
Matthew Joseph Buzanowski left this earth unexpectedly on January 21, 2025, at the age of 42. Matt lived a life of generosity and intentionality. He was born on September 16, 1982, to Nancy and Paul Buzanowski in Winter Park, FL. He graduated from Winter Springs High School in 2001, where he excelled in his gifted classes.
In 2004, driven to action by the 9/11 terrorist attacks, Matt joined the United States Army. During his two-year enlistment as an Infantryman, Matt deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and the Global War on Terror, achieved the rank of Specialist, and earned an Army Commendation Medal for Valor on the Battlefield.
Upon completion of his military commitment, Matt returned to his hometown and reconnected with his high school friend and future wife, Tiffany. The sweet couple fell in love and would soon get married in 2009.
Matt remained a soldier at heart, putting his leadership skills, technical know-how, and intellect to work in cybersecurity for national and global companies. He was the epitome of a true defender and very invested in his work which involved computer coding, penetration testing, and physical and digital security consulting. In 2013, Matt and Tiffany relocated to Georgia with their two young daughters. As a dedicated and engaged father, Matt was the girls’ favorite jungle gym when they were little, and as they’ve grown, he would regularly run lacrosse or cheer carpools, rarely missing a game or competition.
Matt’s smile was infectious and his words sincere; he said what he meant and meant what he said. The beach was his happy place, and he loved taking his family for several weeks every summer to New Smyrna Beach and occasionally tolerated his wife’s love of Disney trips. He wouldn’t admit it, but he loved it too.
Matt is survived by his wife, Tiffany, and beloved daughters, Krista (Mitchell), Addison, and Lila. He is also survived by his mother, Nancy and her partner, Steve; his father and stepmother, Paul and Deborah; his sister, Anne; and a large extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
