Obituary for Matthew Phillip Long
Matthew Phillip Long, 45, of Winter Springs, Florida passed away at home on Sunday, July 31, 2022 with his mother and father by his side. Matthew endured countless challenges brought on as a result of a brain tumor diagnosed when he was just 14. Through the years he was comforted by his strong Catholic faith along with the love and support of family and friends. Over the last few years, Matthew was blessed with the love and unmatched care of Oris, his favorite home health aide. He was especially proud of his niece Anna, and loved to watch Notre Dame football and Baltimore Orioles baseball. Matthew is survived by his father and mother, Michael and Rebecca (Phillips) Long, his sister, Sarah (Long) Webb/Terry and niece, Anna. His grandfather, Calvin Phillips/Paula, his aunt, Mary Fran (Long) Gray and his uncle, Gary Phillips/Kathiee. He is preceded in death by his grandparents Joe and DV Long, his grandmother, Susan Phillips and his uncle, Joe (Hoppy) Long, Jr.
A funeral Mass for Matthew will be said at 10:00 am on Monday, August 15, 2022 at the San Pedro Spiritual Development Center, Mary, Mother of God Chapel, in Winter Park, Florida.
