Melvin Solko, 82, passed away on February 5, 2025, in Florida.
Melvin was born in 1942 and spent his early years working on the family
farm alongside his siblings. From a young age, he was taught the values of
faith, family, integrity, and hard work. He later served in the Army National
Guard, carrying his sense of duty and discipline into all aspects of his life.
After his military service, Melvin became a dedicated farmer while raising
his family. In the mid-1980s, he transitioned from farming to
entrepreneurship, establishing a successful business that he ran from home.
His natural talent for sales and connection with people allowed him to thrive
in various ventures over the years. He had a gift for conversation and never
missed the opportunity to strike up a discussion with those he met.
In retirement, Melvin and his wife embraced their adventurous spirit,
traveling across the country and visiting every state. Eventually, they settled
in Florida, where they enjoyed their later years together.
A devout Catholic, Melvin remained steadfast in his faith throughout his life,
passing those values on to his children. He never missed a Sunday mass,
whether in person or watching from home.
Above all else, Melvin cherished his family. He was immensely proud of his
children and their accomplishments, always eager to share their successes.
His love and devotion to his family were the foundation of his life.
Melvin is survived by his loving wife, children, grandchildren, and many
nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved
son, and several siblings.
His memory will live on through the stories he shared, the lessons he
imparted, and the love he gave so freely. May those who knew him find
comfort in remembering a life well-lived and deeply cherished.
