Obituary for Michael Shannon Turner
Surrounded by family, Michael Turner, 60, of Winter Springs, passed away Friday, May 4, 2012 from a brief battle with cancer. Born in Houston, Texas on September 25, 1951, he moved to Dallas and attended North Texas State University. He then moved to Winter Park. He was married to Susan Witkoski Turner for almost 38 years. Together they had one daughter, Shannon Dwarica of Gainesville, FL. He is also survived by son-in-law, Wayne Dwarica, sister-in-law Janet Emens, brother-in-law Fred Emens and nephews Chris and Ryan Emens. Michael had many interests, including sports, the beach, and cruising. He loved being outdoors, and loved watching the wildlife in his backyard. He was very proud of his daughter, Shannon, who is an RN at Shands Hospital in Gainesville. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in Winter Springs on Friday, May 11 at 3:00 p.m. Arrangements are entrusted to Banfield Funeral Home, Winter Springs. Donations in Michael’s memory can be made to the American Cancer Society. Michael will be remembered as a quiet man, but with a sense of humor who touched many lives. He fought hard, but his illness took him much too soon. Michael will be missed, but he will be in our hearts.
