Nathaniel James Edler, 35 of Ocala, Florida passed away Monday June 16, 2025.
Nate was born on December 5, 1989 at Halifax Hospital in Daytona Beach, Fl. He was the son of Stuart and Doreen Edler.
Nate graduated from Winter Springs (Fl) High School in 2008 and received his Bachelor’s degree in Business from Newberry College (SC) in 2012.
Nate loved his family. He was the oldest child and shouldered the associated responsibilities very well through his life. Nate paved the way through the stages of becoming an adult and would always look out for his younger brothers who followed him on that path. Nate was a good person to the core – polite, articulate, compassionate, and intelligent. Nate had a witty sense of humor and loved relaxing on the pool deck or around the fire pit listening to music of various genres.
Sports was a big part of Nathan’s life. He absolutely loved the team environment, the physical/mental challenges, and the competition of sports. Nate played baseball, soccer, and basketball while growing up. In high school, Nate focused on baseball playing shortstop, 3rd base, and pitcher on the Winter Springs Bears Baseball Team. He received an athletic scholarship to Newberry College in his senior year of high school and pitched for the Newberry College Wolves.
After graduating from Newberry College, Nate pursued his business career by performing various roles centering around financial analysis for multiple companies in expanding roles. Nate took a lot of pride from his ability to assess complex financial/business environments for accurate reporting, automate future reporting, and improve efficiency and business performance through his efforts.
Nate is survived by Grandmother Joyce Edler; parents Stuart and Doreen Edler; Brother Zachary (Dominique) Edler and their children Jackson, Ramsey, and Theodore; Brother Kyle Edler; and Companion Elaina Hammond.
We all take comfort in our faith and believe that Nathan was welcomed into Heaven by our Father who has removed all pain and suffering so he is at peace. We picture Nathan playing catch with his Grandpas Jim Edler and Donnie Toay, playing cards with Grandma Doris Toay, or playing scrabble with Aunt Mary Gallagher.
Nathan took his own life and we struggle to understand how the amazing person we knew and loved could find himself in a moment where he felt that was the only option. We share this to encourage all families and friends to take the time (often) to tell the people you care about that you love them and are there for them. It may make more of an impact than you can ever imagine. It is so easy for life to overwhelm us and we all need each other.
A Celebration of Life for Nate will be held at Banfield Funeral Home and Crematory in Winter Springs, Fl. on Saturday, 12 July 2025 at 2pm. A reception will follow at the Tuscawilla Country Club in Winter Springs, Fl.
