Obituary for Olga Marina Saumet Franco
After vigorously battling cancer, Olga Marina Saumet Franco died on November 21, 2019, in Altamonte Springs, FL, at the age of 64. She leaves behind her husband, Antonio Martinez; her daughters, Carolina & Sandra Martinez.
Olga was born on March 3, 1955, in Plato-Magdalena-Colombia, to father Emiro Saumet (predeceased) and mother, Elena Franco. She grew up with her grandparents, who raised her and gave her a loving family with sisters, brothers, and cousins. Later she moved to Barranquilla, Colombia, where she attended college and became a contemporary and Folkloric Dancer, one of her biggest passions.
Olga met the love of her life Antonio; they shared almost 40 years and raised their two children in Barranquilla and married once moved to the USA. Seventeen years ago, she decided to take a chance and give her family the best opportunity in the search for the American Dream. Here she worked hard, passionately, and always giving her best. Her last job as a custodian for a middle school in the Seminole County, it allowed her to meet beautiful people and leave a mark on all the children she assisted every day.
Olga was driven by her faith and the strength of her smile. She loved Christmas, and with a love of the handcrafts, she made beautiful all she touched, especially her crochet creations. When diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2018, she remained dedicated to her family enjoying every day and in her will to fight her illness. She remained a brave, iron-willed woman, even throughout her final months.
Olga is survived by her husband, children, grandkid, son in laws, as well as her brothers, sisters, sister/brother in laws and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Olga requested to be cremated and to spread her ashes in calm water. A Memorial at the Hospice of the Comforter Chapel will follow. The family would especially like to thank Hospice of The Comforter, Olga’s caretakers, for their excellent work and loving care; all the staff of Advent Health Hospital for their constant, attentive treatment; and the Banfield Funeral Home, for making the arrangements.
