Obituary for Paula Morrical
A counselor in life and in work, Paula lifted up the spirits of those she was around. Born in the small town of Jefferson, Iowa, Paula grew up with her mother, Pauline Anderson, and three older siblings - brother Ken, sister Karen and brother Bob. Always supporting one another through the years, the family eventually moved together to the university town of Ames, Iowa where they all attended Iowa State University. There they each pursued educations and found paths in life filled with success, love and family.

Paula started her teaching career at Carter Lake Elementary where she met a fellow teacher named Mickey Whitehill. Mickey introduced Paula to her nephew, Dan Morrical, with whom Paula would spend the rest of her 48 years. They married on December 27, 1970 and spent nine happy years in Council Bluffs, Iowa and Omaha, Nebraska before deciding to take on the adventure of moving to Florida in 1979.

She spent the next 20 years working as a guidance counselor for elementary school children while living in Winter Springs. She touched the lives of many kids over the years and it always gave her joy to cross paths with former students later in life. In 1982 she gave birth to one son, Jeff, her proudest achievement. She loved music, art, tennis, biking, good conversation and the serenity of the natural world. She could see the good in everything and remained kind to all, even when faced with adversity. In her home life she was a supportive and loving spouse, a creative and adventurous mother, and warmed the hearts of all her friends and family. Paula always took great pride in the achievements of her siblings, nieces and nephews and spoke proudly of the paths in life each of her family members made for themselves.

Always a curious mind, she loved to learn. When faced with Parkinson’s disease in the last decade of her life, Paula remained focused on educating herself all she could to best maintain her health and wellness despite the circumstances. Supported through it all by her husband Dan, her loyal and unwavering caregiver throughout their experience, Paula passed peacefully, surrounded by love.

Free from her body, now she is everywhere. She was preceded in death by mother Pauline and brother Bob, now joining them on her next journey. She will be forever-missed by husband Dan, son Jeff, sister Karen, brother Ken and many other family and friends.
